3 K-Pop Idol Cooking Mistakes That Prove That Nobody’s Perfect

Everybody makes mistakes, even idols!

On the surface, K-Pop idols seem to have it all figured out.

From their stage presence and sharp dance moves…

…to their ethereal visuals, it’s hard not to believe that idols are simply flawless.

However, no matter how perfect someone looks on the outside, everybody makes mistakes. And one place where many idols show their mistakes is in the kitchen.

Even among idols with top-tier culinary skills, as well as those who aren’t as familiar with cooking, anyone can make a mistake while preparing food.

Here are three times idols fumbled while cooking but were still eventually able to make a presentable and yummy meal.

1. NCT’s Taeyong

During his recent “TY Vlog” on May 15, NCT‘s Taeyong prepared a fancy steak and salad meal, full of ingredients like burrata cheese, green olives, and cherry tomatoes.

To add the finishing touch onto his dish, he chopped up nuts and seeds and let them heat up in an air fryer to make a garnish.

As he later became distracted by the bounciness of the burrata cheese, playful Taeyong forgot all about his garnish.

By the time he opened the airfryer, it was far too late.

The unsalvageable burnt nuts were literally glued to the bottom of the bowl “like a sticker”.

Even though Taeyong had to prepare a whole new garnish, he eventually served up a fresh and tasty salad alongside his steak meal.

2. ITZY’s Chaeryeong

On March 20, ITZY‘s Chaeryeong was tasked to make tteokbokki (Korean spicy rice cakes) for a cooking livestream.

Chaeryeong ran into a few problems in her cooking journey, but she handled them all with a smile.

When she put her eggs into a pot to boil them…

…she dropped one a little too hard.

Another mishap occurred as Chaeryeong began to add gochujang (red pepper paste) to her saucepan.

Noticing that her spoon had disappeared into the broth, she motioned upwards for the cameraman to hide the situation before she dug her spoon out.

Despite the mishaps, Chaeryeong’s end result looked delicious as she took a side by side picture of her creation next to a stock photo.

3. Stray Kids’ Seungmin and Felix

In 2020, Stray KidsSeungmin and Felix decided to make souffle pancakes during a live broadcast.

Souffle pancakes are known for their height and bouncy texture from whipping egg whites into a stiff peak for the batter.

The Stray Kids members took turns to hand mix the batter to perfection.

The egg whites were so stiff, member Hyunjin was even able to lift the bowl upside down over Felix’s shoulder!

However, when it was time to add the batter to the griddle, Seungmin and Felix forgot to add oil to the pan, making the pancakes impossible to flip.

Hyunjin and Han came to the rescue by dancing together for the viewers while Seungmin and Felix were forced to discard the batter and start over.

By the time they resolved all of their cooking issues, the pancakes turned out quite flat.

Seungmin and Felix made the best out of the situation as they cutely decorated the pancakes with a face made out of whipped cream hair and blueberries.
