The 6 Most Popular Theories On Which Artist Will Feature In BLACKPINK’s New Single

From Ariana Grande to G-Dragon.

With “How You Like That” still less than a month old, BLINKs were shocked on July 23 when YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK would be releasing their next pre-release single in August 2020. The most surprising part, however, is that the single will include a surprise featuring artist!

But who could it be? Here are the top 6 most popular fan theories on who could be collaborating with BLACKPINK next month.

1. Ariana Grande

The most popular theory by far is that Ariana Grande will feature on the new BLACKPINK single.

She’s been friends with the members for quite some time, so it makes sense that both acts would want to collaborate with each other.

Earlier this year, Tommy Brown also revealed that he spent a whole day recording in the studio with BLACKPINK. Tommy Brown is the producer behind “7 Rings” and “Thank U, Next”, two of Ariana’s biggest hits.

Plus, Ariana liked Jennie’s post of the teaser on Instagram. Since Ariana doesn’t follow Jennie there, that means she went out of her way to find and like the teaser—suspicious indeed.

2. Charlie Puth

The next theory that has many BLINKs convinced is that Charlie Puth will be the featured artist.

Back in June, Puth updated his Instagram story with a video of him watching Rosé’s part in the “How You Like That” music video and tweeted that he likes the song.

Not long after, fans noticed he’d started following Lisa on Instagram.

Earlier this month, many BLINKs assumed this tweet of Puth’s had something to do with BLACKPINK, as Puth had been liking and commenting on Lisa’s posts.

3. Halsey

Next up on the list is a BLACKPINK featuring Halsey collaboration.

The main reason BLINKs think Halsey may be the featured artist is that both Halsey and BLACKPINK have all recently updated Instagram with pictured of themselves holding ice creams, which seems to match the concept of the teaser.

Halsey also collaborated with BTS for “Boy With Luv”, so she’s no stranger to working with K-Pop artists.

4. Doja Cat

Some BLINKs also think there’s a chance that Doja Cat could be featuring on the group’s new single.

So far, the only link between the two artists is that the teaser for the BLACKPINK single uses a similar retro font to Doja Cat’s “Say So” and “Say So (Remix) ft. Nicki Minaj” posters.

5. Nicki Minaj

The last western artist on the list of popular theories is Nicki Minaj.

BLINKs aren’t the only ones who have the possibility of a Nicki collaboration in their heads. A major Nicki Minaj fanpage on Twitter also tweeted the speculation after BLACKPINK’s teaser dropped.

However, other than the fact that Nicki previously featured on BTS’s “Idol”, there’s little evidence to suggest that she’ll be working with BLACKPINK. Plus, Nicki recently announced her pregnancy, meaning she’ll likely be out of action for a while.

6. Another K-Pop act

Of course, there’s always the possibility that BLACKPINK could be collaborating with another Korean act. One of the most popular K-Pop feature theories is BLACKPINK featuring G-Dragon.

Some fans are also wondering whether BLACKPINK could be collaborating with YG Entertainment’s upcoming boy group, Treasure, in an effort to boost their debut.
