On June 30, the Seoul Central Police Station announced that they had arrested a 46-year-old man, Mr. A, who had sexually assaulted and attempted to rape a heavily intoxicated woman, Ms. B, at a motel.
It is reported by SBS News that on the night of June 28 around 11pm, an acquaintance of Ms. B called the police after failing to locate her friend. During the call, she is said to have told the police, “I was drinking with my friend and she has since disappeared. I lost contact with her.”
After the acquaintance’s call, the police was able to locate Ms. B by tracking her cellphone location. They found her at a motel in Jung-Gu, Seoul with Mr. A, who was caught attempting to rape her at the time of the search. He was arrested immediately as a current offender.
Upon his arrest, it is said that Mr. A denied all of the charges, claiming that “Ms. B and I consensually agreed to meet at the accommodation.”
Mr. A is reported to be a freelance assistant director for a K-Drama about police and crime. It is said that the series is currently airing on a major broadcast company.
Upon finding out about this news, a representative from the K-Drama team confirmed Mr. A’s removal by stating, “after recognizing the incident of the assistant director, the person involved was removed from the production immediately.”
