They’ve joined an elite club of superstars.

Today is a very important day in BTS history for more reasons than one!

Dressed to impress in matching suits, BTS delivered a message of hope at the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as special presidential envoys to President Moon Jae In. The members touched on the pandemic, climate change, and more, in the hopes of inspiring and comforting today’s youth.

BTS also became the first K-Pop act to ever perform at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. They turned the hall into their own personal venue, singing their hit single, “Permission to Dance.”

Who else has performed at headquarters? Oh, nobody. Just an American singer-songwriter by the name of…Beyoncé! This music queen performed her song “I Was Here” at the United Nations General Assembly in 2012.

Want more star power? How about an icon with hips that do not and will never lie: Shakira. She performed a cover of John Lennon‘s song “Imagine” at the UN in 2015.

The elite list of musicians who have graced the UN stage also includes Palestinian pop singer Mohammad Assaf, Brazilian singer Gilberto Gil, and Indian Carnatic singer M.S. Subbulakshmi. In other words, this club is for legends only!
