BTS, TWICE, SEVENTEEN And Others Won Big At The 2019 Japan Gold Disc Awards

BTS and TWICE continue to dominate Japan.

The 2019 Japanese Gold Disc Awards have just concluded and a lot of Korean artists won big. The award show primarily focuses on music sales and we all know that K-Pop artists excel when it comes to sales. BTS took home a whopping five awards, the first of which being “Best Asian Artist” which is awarded to the Asian artist they deem to be the “greatest” outside of Japan.

BTS left this message for the reception of their first award.

“We’re honoured and truly happy to receive such a prestigious award. To all ARMYS who show us love and support, thank you. We also want to express our gratitude towards our members, the staff at Big Hit, Bang Sihyuk PD and our families. We’re happy to be able to tell you good news from the beginning of 2019. We’ll work hard to repay your love through our works and cool performances”

“Album of the Year” has three recipients. One of which was BTS for their Japanese album “Face Yourself”. Humble as ever, BTS left this thank-you message for the award.

“Thank you so much for giving us this valuable award. To all the ARMYs who always believe in us and support us, and to everyone who listened to our songs, we want to thank you again. We’ll work harder to present better music and show our improvement through our performances.”

A separate album award, entitled “Best Three Albums” netted another two wins for BTS. They won for both “Face Yourself” and “Love Yourself: Answer”. They left a separate message for each.

“We were able to win best three albums thanks to ARMY’s love. Thank you so much for giving us this nice award. Through our songs and stages in 2019, we’ll devote ourselves to spreading good luck and energy.

“We’re happy to win not just for Face Yourself but also for Love Yourself: Answer. As the final album in our Love Yourself series, many people listened to it and I think we were able to achieve good results thanks to your love. Remembering that true love begins with yourself is what’s most important. ARMY, I love you. We’ll be preparing our music dilligently so you can listen to wider variety of music”.

Finally, for “Best Music Video” which is for concert DVDs, BTS won an award for “2017 BTS LIVE TRILOGY EPISODE III, THE WINGS TOUR IN JAPAN, SPECIAL EDITION AT KYOCERA DOME”.

“We’re filled to the brim with happiness to receive an award with footage of our first dome tour in Japan, at the Kyocera Dome for the Wings tour. I still can’t forget the emotions I felt then. So many people greeted us with loud cheers and their huge screams of support left a big impression on my mind. We’ll continue to always show you our best efforts. Thank you.”

BTS wasn’t the only Korean winners, however. TWICE continue their domination of Japan with two massive wins. The other winner from the “Best 3 Albums” besides BTS was none other than TWICE for “BDZ”, TWICE’s first Japanese studio album.

And they were also one of the three recipients of “Song of the Year (By Download)” for “Candy Pop”, their hit Japanese single. Well done girls!

SEVENTEEN were also sent a couple of prestigious awards. They earned themselves “New Artist of the Year (Japan)” and “Best Three New Artists (Asia)”. Their popularity in the region has been spurred onwards by the release of their first Japanese mini album, “We Make You”.

GFRIEND was one of the other recipients of “Best 3 New Artists (Asia)” following the release of their Japanese debut album “GFRIEND: The Best”.

Lastly, the other winner for “Best 3 New Artists (Asia)” was MOMOLAND. Following Japanese releases of their songs “Bboom Bboom” and “BAAM” they are starting to take off in Japan.
