Does BTS’s Success Put Pressure On TXT? Yeonjun Reveals His Thoughts

TXT is one of the most successful fourth-generation groups, but how do they feel being BTS’s juniors?

What’s it like to be the junior group of the world’s biggest K-Pop act? At TXT‘s recent press conference for new album The Chaos Chapter: FIGHT OR ESCAPE, Yeonjun revealed whether BTS‘s success puts pressure on the TXT members.

As the years go on, BTS continues to rise to heights never seen before in K-Pop—both in South Korea and internationally. This year alone, they’ve topped the U.S. Billboard chart multiple times and broken records for album sales, YouTube views, and more. Of course, BTS isn’t the only successful group under Big Hit Music. The label is also home to their junior group, TXT.

But how does it really feel to be juniors to such a successful act? That’s what reporters at TXT’s The Chaos Chapter: FIGHT OR ESCAPE press conference wanted to know—and Yeonjun answered.

First things first, Yeonjun explained that being BTS’s junior group is far from negative. Instead, he revealed, “I am very happy when I hear news of our seniors.” Yeonjun went on to share how amazing it is to have the BTS members by his side, sharing, “It gives me great strength to have such amazing seniors close to us.”

As for the pressure, Yeonjun says that’s undeniable. “Although there is pressure,” he explained, “It’s something that is unavoidable.” Of course, the TXT members don’t let that pressure get them down at all. Instead, Yeonjun reveals that they focus on how to prove themselves independently.

I think we can prove ourselves through our efforts by setting a stricter standard.

Early last year, Yeonjun shared a similar sentiment in Star1 magazine. When asked how the TXT members feel being BTS’s juniors, Yeonjun told Star1, “It would be a lie to say we didn’t feel pressured. But we used that as a motivation to do better.”

Of course, despite them hailing from the same label, fans can agree that there’s no need to compare TXT and BTS’s achievements. In just over two short years, TXT has managed to become one of the most successful and loved fourth-generation K-Pop groups, and they continue to rise with every comeback. The Chaos Chapter: FIGHT OR ESCAPE and new title track “LO$ER=LO♡ER” will be released on August 17.
