Food Network Exposed For Racist Asian Chicken Wings Episode

Food Network‘s The Pioneer Woman has received criticism after a racist joke on the show angered viewers.

The cooking show angered viewers when a clip from the second season of the show resurfaced, showing the chef’s family and friends commenting on an Asian dish.

On the show, The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond “pranked” members of the show by taking a tray of Asian-style chicken wings from the oven. Everyone at the table appeared shocked upon seeing them and gave their thoughts about the dish.

Among the mumbling from Ree’s family and friends, one man is heard saying “What…what is that?” while another, seemingly shocked that Asian style wings were served, asked “Where are the real wings?” Finally, a third man said “I don’t trust them” after Ree presented the dish.

Drummond then said “I’m just kidding guys, I wouldn’t do that do you” before going back to the oven to take the real Buffalo wings from the oven, the men around the table immediately looked cheerful and became interested in the food.

Many viewers took to Twitter to express their anger at the joke.

The Food Network has received criticism for its lack of diversity in the past as many people have expressed their hopes to see more chefs from different backgrounds on the network.
