Posters for the album were spotted in London after going up on May 8 in London, England. The project is not explicitly titled as it simply says “Coming Soon” and lists many notable artists, including Jackson Wang, St. Vincent, H.E.R., and producer Jack Antonoff.

Last year, rumors began about a collaboration between Ross and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker working together. The Sun revealed via a source that they have collaborated on a song.

She’s really excited to work with Tame Impala, and is ecstatic with the track. She can’t wait for fans to hear it.

Other sources have revealed that the poster in question, though, is actually for Universal Pictures and Illumination‘s upcoming film Minions: The Rise of Gru (also known as Minions 2) original soundtrack. And, if you inspect the poster even closer, you will notice a small minion peeking out by Diana Ross’ name.

Jackson Wang later announced his involvement in the film’s soundtrack. His song is titled “Born to be Alive.”

The film starring Steve Carell focuses on the title character Gru’s childhood in the 70s. So, the soundtrack will reflect that, making Diana Ross a perfect inclusion!

Set just after the events of the first film, this time in the 1970s, a 12-year-old Gru is growing up in the suburbs. A fanboy of a team of supervillains known as the Vicious 6, Gru hatches a plan to become evil enough to join them. When the Vicious 6 oust their leader, legendary fighter Wild Knuckles, Gru interviews to become their newest member.

It does not go well, and things only get worse after Gru steals a precious stone from them with the help of Kevin, Stuart, Bob, Otto, and the other Minions and suddenly finds himself the mortal enemy of the apex of evil. On the run, Gru and the Minions will turn to an unlikely source for guidance, Wild Knuckles himself, and discover that even bad guys need a little help from their friends.

Yet, Jackson Wang has also previously released music inspired by decades past. “LMLY” (also known as “Leave Me Loving You”) was inspired by the 80s specifically.

Minions: The Rise of Gru is the sequel to the spin-off prequel Minions (2015) but the fifth entry overall in the Despicable Me franchise. The new film will release on July 1, 2022.
