H.O.T’s Lee Jae Won diagnosed with thyroid cancer

In shocking news, it has been reported that H.O.T’s Lee Jae Won has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and is currently receiving treatment.

A close associate of Lee Jae Won revealed on January 10th, “He felt that his body was feeling abnormal and went to the hospital. He was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The cancer was found in early stages and his treatment is going well.”

The associate further revealed that the 1st generation K-pop idol were planning on making a comeback. But due to Lee Jae Won’s current health situation, it was decided most important that he focus on healing.

“H.O.T was planning to reunite. They had planned to perform at award shows at the end of last year, but decided it was important Lee Jae Won focus on getting better and pushed plans back indefinitely.”

H.O.T made their debut in 1996 under SM Entertainment, and became one of the most popular K-pop idols of that generation. Following H.O.T’s disbandment, the group JTL was created from three of the H.O.T members, Jang Woo Hyuk, Tony Ahn, and Lee Jae Won, who last released a solo album in 2005.
