Here’s Who Kim Jong Un Brought To South Korea With Him

These are the North Korean officials who came for the historic North and South Korean peace summit.

1. Kim Yong Nam – President of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly

As president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly, North Korea’s legislative body, Kim Yong Nam is an important figure behind the scenes in Pyongyang. His position is a largely ceremonial one that involves handling the duties of a head of state, like nominating ambassadors and welcoming foreign officials. He has a strong relationship with the ruling Kim family that has allowed him to remain a high official in the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) for decades.

 

2. Kim Yong Chol – Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea

Kim Yong Chol is one of the most powerful people in North Korea, a former intelligence chief who served the DPRK’s intelligence community for nearly 30 years. He also used to be a bodyguard for the former North Korean leader Kim Jong Il and is currently one of the public faces of the country’s army in state media.

 

3. Choe Hwi  – Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK)

Choe Hwi is a top North Korean official and the senior director of the propaganda and agitation department of North Korea’s ruling Workers’ Party. He is also the Chairman of the State Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, an alternate member of the WPK Political Bureau and deputy to the Supreme People’s Assembly.

 

4. Ri Su Yong  – Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of Workers’ Party of Korea

Ri Su Yong is vice chairman of the WPK and Director of the WPK International Affairs Department. He is also Chairman of the Supreme People’s Assembly Diplomatic Committee, a member of the WPK Political Bureau, and a member of the WPK Central Committee.

 

5. Kim Yo Jong  – 1st Vice Department Director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Part of Korea

Kim Yo Jong is Kim Jong Un‘s sister and a member of the WPK’s Politburo, North Korea’s highest political assembly. She is believed to be one of Kim Jong Un’s most trusted aides and is considered the gatekeeper of his appearances and security.

 

6. Ri Myong Su  – Chief of the KPA General Staff

General Ri Myong Su is the former Minister of People’s Security and a former member of the DPRK National Defense Commission and WPK Political Bureau. He is also a member of the WPK Central Committee and WPK Central Military Commission. He used to be one of Kim Jong Il’s military aides.

 

7. Pak Yong Sik  – Minister of the People’s Armed Forces of the DPRK 

In addition to being the DPRK’s defense minister, General Pak Yong Sik is a member of the State Affairs Commission, the WPK Political Bureau, the WPK Central Committee, the WPK Central Military Commission, and a deputy to the Supreme People’s Assembly. He held several command positions in the Korean People’s Army.

 

8. Ri Yong Ho  – Foreign Minister

Ri Yong Ho is the DPRK’s Foreign Minister and an alternate member of the WPK Political Bureau, as well as a member of the WPK Central Committee. He has been one of the most important diplomatic managers of the country’s relations with the United States and the United Nations for nearly 20 years.

 

9. Ri Son Gwon  – Chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country

Ri Son Gwon is chairman of the Committee for Peaceful Reunification, which handles inter-Korean affairs. He is also a senior colonel of the North Korean military and is known as Kim Yong Chul’s right-hand man.
