Jung Yonghwa Will No Longer Participate In Pyeongchang Olympic Ambassador Activities

The committee deemed it inappropriate for Jung Yonghwa to continue promoting the global event.

CNBLUE‘s Jung Yonghwa will only retain his title as a celebrity ambassador of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

News reports state that Jung Yonghwa will not be participating in any activities and promotions as an ambassador. The organization will only list him as an ambassador by name and face, but will not have him participate in its events.

The 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic committee revealed that they couldn’t promote him as an ambassador any farther because of his latest scandal.

“After hearing about Jung Yonghwa’s news, the committee held an internal discussion. With the games coming up soon, we felt that promoting him could affect the competition. Instead of continuing promotions, we have concluded that he should stop acting as a public relations ambassador. Jung Yonghwa will not participate in the Olympic events.” — 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Committee

The decision was made after it was revealed that Jung Yonghwa was admitted into Kyunghee University’s graduate program through special admissions, thanks to his celebrity status.
