Here’s What We Know so Far About JYP’s New Girl Group

Fans have also uncovered what their name could be.

JYP Entertainment officially confirmed the launch of their new girl group on January 14.

The official statement reads:

“Our new girl group is working hard for their debut. We’re already filmed a music video, and we’ll announce their debut date once it’s confirmed.”

The launch of a new girl group has actually been in the talks since last year.

Following this official announcement, three names have been mentioned as the suspected members of JYP’s new girl group.

Let’s take a look at the three potential members in more detail:

1. Shin Ryujin from MIXNINE

It is predicted by fans that Shin Ryujin is the most likely trainee to debut with JYP’s new girl group.

“Ryujin, I’m already ready for your debut. Hurry up. I’ll be waiting. I love you.”

If you haven’t watched YG‘s survival program, MIXNINE, Shin Ryujin was a very competitive contender who finished the show in 1st place.

On the show, Shin Ryujin received a lot of attention for her outstanding dancing and rapping skills.

Shin Ryujin also starred in BTS‘ “Love Yourself Highlight Reel” in J-Hope and Jimin‘s story.

2. Hwang Yeji from The Fan

Another name that has been brought up since the announcement is Hwang Yeji, who is well-known for her appearance on SBS’ The Fan.

Just last month, Hwang Yeji performed Zara Larsson’s “Ain’t My Fault” after being introduced as “a secret weapon” by 2PM‘s Junho.

Despite her powerful performance, she received an unexpectedly low score on the show. As a result, her name even trended on Naver’s real-time search rankings.

1. Hwang Yeji

Prior to The Fan, Hwang Yeji has made a brief appearance on Mnet’s Stray Kids as well.

3. Lee Chaeryeong from K-Pop Star 3 and Sixteen

You might remember Lee Chaeryeong as the cute girl that auditioned for K-Pop Star 3 when she was only 11 years old.

She auditioned for the show with her sister, Lee Chaeyeon, where she impressed the judges with her outstanding hip-hop dance skills.

Following the show, Lee Chaeryeong became a JYP trainee and competed on the survival show, Sixteen in 2015.

Although she was eliminated, her talents were acknowledged by her growing fan base.

Then, in 2017, Lee Chaeryeong competed in Stray Kids and gained even more popularity.

Although JYP hasn’t officially announced how many members the group will have, fans are confident that these three trainees will be included.

There is also speculation among fans that the girl group’s name is ITZY after it was found that JYP trademarked the word “ITZY“.

Some fans also found ‘official’ Instagram and Twitter accounts of “ITZY“, which is feeding the speculation even further.

At this point, all we can do is wait for more information to be released, but the talent level of the previously mentioned names hint at a very powerful girl group.

Since the group has already filmed their first MV, it won’t be long before fans are blessed with TWICE‘s sister group!
