SPIN magazine names lists Ga In’s “Fxxk U” in its “101 Best Songs of 2014”

U.S media and magazine SPIN recently released its “101 Best Songs of 2014” list, listing Korean female soloist Ga In’s “Fxxk U.”

In February 2014, Ga In made her solo comeback with Truth or Dare, where she promoted her title track “Fxxk U,” which now joins many global artists’ tracks on SPIN’s best of 2014 list. The track’s music video was rated 19+, but despite the age restriction, managed to top many music charts.

Coming in 95th place, SPIN writes, “‘Fuck you / Don’t want it now’ are the least mistakable lines to us Westerners in this singular K-pop hit. The fatalistic video and shards of English lyrics display rape and domestic violence in jarring contrast to the loungy, tropicalia-style beat, while the odd chords and inverted ‘oooh-oooh’ response vocals travel backward. Supposedly about the aftermath of a woman beginning to say ‘no’ to her partner, the visuals of ‘Fxxk U’ spurt blood while the jazzy calm of the music never tips its hand. It’s upsettingly fitting.”

Other artists who were listed included Usher, Nicki Minaj, Jason Derulo, Ariana Grande, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, and more.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Ga In may be aiming for another solo comeback for the first half of 2015.
