Squid Game is a gory 2021 K-Drama that has taken the world by storm. In it, hundreds of players who are desperate for cash play deadly games to win a grand prize. Each player receives a mysterious card with a phone number on the back: an invite to the games.

Unfortunately, the production team made the mistake of taking out the first three digits of the number instead of the middle or last four. For Korean phone numbers, if the last eight digits are dialed without an area code, the call can still connect if it’s made in the area.

Needless to say, this has caused problems for the owner of that phone number. Ever since the show aired, her phone has been flooded with unwanted texts and calls.

Netflix’s initial response to the situation received backlash. According to SBS News, Netflix’s production crew for Squid Game simply told the owner to “change her number,” and did not apologize. Since the phone number is tied to the owner’s business, however, she is unable to change it.

In a new statement, Netflix says it is now in the process of removing the phone number from Squid Game to put an end to the prank calls and messages.
