TXT‘s Taehyun is praised for many things, but most of all his powerful vocals! In a recent interview, Taehyun shared the artists that had a significant impact on him as a singer.
Taehyun and Yeonjun appeared on Eric Nam‘s podcast Daebak Show w/ Eric Nam where Eric asked them about what music they listened to growing up.
Yeonjun named Korean singer DEAN as his inspiration, but Taehyun went international and named the Canadian singer Justin Bieber and the English singer ZAYN!
Taehyun said he was first a fan of Bieber, who Taehyun said could owe his popularity to his music.
I first became a big fan of Justin Bieber. I thought there’s always a reason for his popularity, and I think the essence was the music. Listening to the recordings he made when he was young, it makes one wonder, ‘How did he do that at that age?’, so I think he’s a natural-born genius and artist.
Taehyun also complimented Bieber on not being afraid to try different genres, such as pop, R&B, and hip-hop. Bieber’s ability to perform well in different styles inspired Taehyun to be like him! He’s definitely accomplished that, seeing how TXT’s discography spans from retro pop to emo.
However, Taehyun pointed out that as Bieber’s career went on, he stopped singing songs that were high in range, something that Taehyun has to do as a K-Pop idol.
Because of that, he found a new artist to inspire him: ZAYN! Taehyun said he really likes ZAYN’s “sexy pronunciation and falsetto.”
Taehyun named the song “Let Me” as his current favorite ZAYN song, and he and Eric sang a little bit of it!
Taehyun released a cover of “Let Me” just last month that has over 1.6M views on YouTube.
