2NE1 Minzy’s Past Interview Resurfaces in Light of Recent Events Surrounding YG

She shared that Yang Hyun Suk called her “really ugly” on multiple occasions.

As a result of Seungri‘s charges for soliciting prostitution for high-profile investors, YG Entertainment recently took a big hit of around 200 billion won in market value.

In light of YG Entertainment‘s current struggles, 2NE1 Minzy‘s story of how Yang Hyun Suk criticized her looks during her time at YG has resurfaced in online communities.

Last December, Minzy opened up to Billboard about the hard times she faced while being a part of YG’s girl group, 2NE1. The topic that she particularly stressed in the interview pertained to her looks.

She confessed that during her time in the group, Yang Hyun Suk called her “really ugly” on multiple occasions. She went on to explain that this became a major mental weight for her young self who could only read Korean comments criticizing her looks despite a growing international and more forgiving fanbase.

Minzy added, “We were the ugly group. I didn’t know how to process that. It was hard. I tried to brush it off like it was no big deal, but I couldn’t.” She also made the shocking revelation that she suffered from depression.

As Minzy’s past interview resurfaced, YG received added backlash for not controlling Seungri as he caused the scandals that are currently being investigated.

It appears that many think Yang Hyun Suk and YG Entertainment should also be held accountable for failing to manage their artists to the best of their ability.
