Co-ed group K.A.R.D is already charting with their debut single

DSP‘s newest idol group is making headlines for their unique member lineup.

K.A.R.D has finally debuted with their first single “Oh NaNa” featuring “hidden” member Youngji! The co-ed group consisting of members J.seph, B.M, Jeon Somin, and Jeon Jiwoo has wowed the public with their chic and sexy image and their new addictive song.

International response to “Oh NaNa” has been tremendous. It is currently #4 on the US iTunes K-Pop music chart, which is an impressive feat for a rookie group. The song is also ranked in the top 10 on the iTunes K-Pop charts of Japan, England, and France.

It will be interesting to see how well this group will fair, given K-Pop’s history with Co-ed groups. The two most notable co-ed groups in K-Pop history are Sunny Hill and the aptly named Co-Ed. Both of these groups, however, have been reformed into single-gendered groups. Sunny Hill’s male members left the group and Co-Ed’s members formed two distinct groups: 5dolls and SPEED. The only other “co-ed” groups in K-pop at the moment are the sibling duo AKMU and the sexy duo Trouble Maker.

Who knows, maybe K.A.R.D will be the group that successfully paves the road for co-ed groups in the future.
