Song Ji Hyo Opens Up About Her Thoughts On The MeToo Movement

“The fact that #MeToo had to happen makes me so upset and angry.”

During a recent interview with Newsen, Actress Song Ji Hyo revealed that she is a supporter of the #MeToo movement currently sweeping the Korean entertainment industry.

She revealed that she was angry that she lived in a society where the movement had to happen in order to bring change.

“I thought about it a lot. It makes me sad that #MeToo had to become a movement. The fact that #MeToo had to happen makes me so upset and angry.” — Song Ji Hyo

She had the utmost respect for the victims who came forward, as well as words of encouragement.

“I truly admire the people who had the courage to start this movement so we can support it together. Many people think ‘society has changed,’ but I hope the vulnerable will no longer be victims.” — Song Ji Hyo

Song Ji Hyo even shared that the environment of the entertainment industry has drastically changed because of the #MeToo movement, but reassured her fans that her long-time coworkers are good people!

“When I arrive at a new set, I can feel the difference in the environment. However, I have been working on certain programs for so long, and most of the movies I work on are with people I know. They are all good people. I have been blessed in that way.”

Hopefully, the #MeToo movement will continue to gain traction, and bring much-needed change.
