Yoo Jae Suk Weeps for a Daegu Nurse’s Sense of Duty in the Midst of the Coronavirus Outbreak

The volunteer nurse is currently fighting the outbreak in Daegu, which has the most number of COVID-19 cases in Korea.

On a recent episode of You Quiz on the Block, Yoo Jae Suk interviewed a medical professional in Daegu who is currently battling the serious coronavirus situation in the region.

The nurse is a volunteer nurse working at a hospital in Daegu, and her name is Jung Dae Rae.

When Yoo Jae Suk mentioned the mask she was wearing, Jung Dae Rae joked about how uncomfortable it was to always wear a mask.

To be honest, the mask is very uncomfortable. But since we always have to be wearing them, I just suck it up and keep it on.

– Jung Dae Rae

The nurse touched the audience by explaining why she decided to volunteer for the job despite her family’s disapproval.

I’ve always had the thought that I should step up in the face of any kind of national crisis.

– Jung Dae Rae

Jung Dae Rae also updated the viewers on Daegu’s current situation in battling the serious outbreak.

The hospital is so full of patients that we’re low on materials, nurses, as well as other manpower and equipment. The doctors work 15 to 17 hours at a time. And we’re so low on materials that we’re trying to save on what we can.

– Jung Dae Rae

She went on to express that she hopes all of the patients overcome the disease with the help that people all around the nation have been giving them.

But when Jung Dae Rae sent a message out to her family, Yoo Jae Suk couldn’t help but shed tears.

I just want to tell my family that I’m doing well. Don’t worry too much about me. I miss my family though.

– Jung Dae Rae

Once Yoo Jae Suk collected himself, he thanked the nurse for everything she’s been doing for the citizens and touched many viewers with his sincerity.

I wanted to express just how thankful I am of you and how much I respect you. And I can’t express the degree of those feelings with words alone.

– Yoo Jae Suk
